Talent Acquisition in Mexico

Yes, we recruit tech talent in Mexico

Everscale shares talent data and helps you optimize your nearshore positions, including location and employment strategy, then sources and screens the candidates. You interview and decide. From engineering talent to sales and customer experience areas.

Staff augmentation, nearshore staffing, temporary teams, headhunting: the words vary to describe the first step. Getting the top talent working for you, in Mexico. How you want to employ these temporary or permanent hires is up to you, and we help you create the best framework, cost and risk wise.

1

Talent research and validation

Before recruiting, we give you actual market data: salary benchmarks, candidate availability, seniority distribution, and location options. You validate assumptions before making commitments.

2

Sourcing, screening, and presenting candidates

We draw from a proprietary database of 3,500+ vetted IT profiles averaging 9.8 years of experience, plus active market sourcing. You see qualified candidates, not unfiltered applications.

3

Employment and compliance under Mexican law

Everscale acts as the employer of record, running payroll or contractor payments under Mexican labor law and handling all statutory obligations. No entity required on your side.

4

On-demand local presence and experts

As the team grows, on-demand access to local HR, legal, and operations advisors becomes critical. We cover those needs so your team has the support of a local operation without the overhead of one.

Everscale is the operating layer behind your Mexico team. AWS gave companies cloud infrastructure without having to build, staff and maintain a data center. We help you do the same, cost-efficiently no matter the size, due to economies of scale built over 40 years, nationwide.

Common Pitfalls

When staff augmentation can be the wrong answer

The model works well for the right scope and the right partner. These are the situations where it creates more risk than it solves.

PITFALL 01 OF 08

Knowledge walks out the door

Hiring a tech company that leases their own teams means losing the training and knowledge developed when those people are moved to another project or the contract ends. All the investment is wiped out.

Starting Small in Mexico

How it works, when you only need two or three people in Mexico

Starting small is the most common approach for nearshoring. Two or three senior hires working from home still need to be recruited properly, as they are the foundation team, employed compliantly and paid on time.

The team will soon need to solve different issues, which can require local presence and experts on call. Established companies don't rely on a chatbot for teams engaged in business-critical operations.

The Data

Everscale's June 2026 benchmark study covered 1,162 U.S.-headquartered enterprise software companies backed by 20 technology-focused private equity firms.

The median Mexico operation is 5 people. The average is 26, against 192 in India. Different setups.

Who We Work With

Everscale works with Private Equity firms, software companies, consulting firms and SME companies, supporting from a team of one to a large Center of Excellence, thanks to the group's economies of scale for a more cost-efficient operation than other EoR and ad-hoc providers.

The Model

You run the team, while we run the infrastructure around it.

Location Strategy

Which Mexican city for your tech team

Several cities have a higher GDP than countries like Costa Rica, Croatia, Panama, Bulgaria, Paraguay and Uruguay. Short version: it depends on the roles, scale, regional strategy, and industry. After our initial meeting, we can suggest which is the best fit for your particular variables, as we have a presence in all major cities.

Monterrey

Strong industrial and enterprise software base, known as the nearshore capital, located 125 miles from the US border. Top private university in Latin America (MIT equivalent). Population in the Monterrey metro area reaches 5.4 million people. The city was highlighted in the 2025 CBRE reports as the fastest-growing tech market in Latin America (growing at a 112% rate over 5 years).

Guadalajara

Known as the Mexican Silicon Valley due to its electronics industry. Strong talent pool for the pharma and retail industries. The Guadalajara metro area has 5.3 million people, with 16 technology institutes and 12 universities.

Mexico City

Largest talent pool in Mexico and top destination for companies looking to establish their Latin America headquarters. It surpassed São Paulo a couple of years ago as the largest tech talent market in Latin America.

Tijuana

Right on the US west coast border. High percentage of bilingual population.

Hermosillo

Population size of 1 million people and 174 miles from the US border, it has lower competition for candidates, and is well suited to technical teams. High percentage of bilingual population.

For two or three remote people, the city does not matter much, except if the role requires international travel. But for a team you expect to grow, it matters a great deal. Request a complimentary in-depth location analysis.

Frequently asked questions about staff augmentation in Mexico.

Recruiting and employing people in Mexico to work for a company based elsewhere. The same arrangement is called nearshore staffing or nearshore staff augmentation depending on who is asking. It is called nearshore because the working day overlaps entirely and flights are comparable to domestic travel, unlike offshore locations several time zones away. The IT industry is one of the industries that rely the most on headhunting and staffing firms to find talent, due to the nature of their services.
Yes, and it is common. Everscale's June 2026 benchmark study found that 46.7% of companies with a Mexico presence employ only 1 to 4 people there, the largest single category in the study. No office or facilities are required for a small remote team, but additional on-demand services are required due to Mexico's complex regulations.
Yes. IT service providers and consulting firms are project based, so they require flexible operations that can scale accordingly. It is common for these companies to switch certain roles to permanent positions, either because of their performance or as part of the natural growth of the company.
No, if the firm employs the people, acting as the Employer of Record as well. Everscale acts as the legal employer of record, running contractor payments or payroll under Mexican labor law and handling statutory obligations, while you direct the work and own the relationship.
A staffing firm finds the people. An employer of record employs them, either on a temporary or permanent contract. They are different functions, not competing options, and many engagements need both. The question worth asking is not which one you need but who is providing each, as other vendors will be needed for local presence, procurement, and logistics.
Each company is different. Everscale enables its customers to start fast, as some projects demand it, due to its proprietary talent database of more than 3,500 vetted profiles from the IT industry in Mexico, averaging 9.8 years of experience. And maybe more importantly, it is not about knowing who to hire, but who not to hire.
The ideal one should have extensive experience hiring candidates from the IT industry, not just software developers, but roles that support sales, customer support and more. It requires seasoned tech recruiters, an extensive candidate network, nationwide presence, and a long track record in the country. To be able to become a true end-to-end partner, it has to cover all the steps, from talent research data to recruiting, employment, local presence, and operations expertise. Everscale is part of a group that for 40 years has provided expansion and talent services to international companies doing business in Mexico. More than 25,000 people are managed daily by the group, across aerospace, automotive, financial services, contact centers, professional services and software.
Yes, Everscale supports its clients for executive-level roles. Keep in mind that, after negative experiences with foreign startups that vanished during the pandemic, candidates now tend to prefer established companies locally and/or well-known brands. This holds true for CIOs, CTOs, and other VP-level roles, which is why partnering with established companies matters. Our group is the largest of its type (25k employees), and works directly with private investors and private-equity-backed companies for planning and running their nearshore operations, which includes this type of experience.
